04/15/2025 |

Paper napkin decoupage is a fantastic way to add stylish motifs to decorative items. And no painting needed. The perfect glue for this is KREUL Art Potch. It is glue and varnish in one and easy to use. Still not sure about something? Perhaps we can clear up any uncertainties with answers to the five questions we are most frequently asked about KREUL Art Potch.

Is KREUL Art Potch suitable for paper maché?

Yes, that works. With the special glue for paper napkin decoupage, you can easily make paper maché objects. Simply paint KREUL Art Potch onto thin paper, e.g. toilet paper or paper towels. Lay the pieces of paper on top of each other and brush on more glue. Stick several layers together in this way. You don’t have to wait until every layer is dry. Wallpaper paste is often used to make paper maché. But KREUL Art Potch is a good alternative from the crafts department.

From what age can you use KREUL Art Potch?

Paper napkin decoupage is great crafting fun for kids. If 4-year-old children want to stick paper napkin motifs onto things, we recommend MUCKI Kids Decoupage Glue. It is water-soluble and can be washed out of textiles. The paper napkin motifs can easily be removed again with a wet cloth. For kids aged from 6 years, KREUL Art Potch is a good option. Once it has dried, this glue is weatherproof and cannot be washed out of textiles. The stuck-on paper napkin designs stay permanently on the objects they have been stuck onto.

It’s fantastic that KREUL Art Potch is not only a glue, but can also be used as varnish. That is perfect for decorative items for outdoors. To make objects weatherproof, just brush on KREUL Art Potch. The coat of varnish dries transparent and gives excellent protection against the elements..

Why is KREUL Art Potch not suitable for candles?

The special glue is suitable for a wide range of surfaces. It has been developed for decorating wood, cardboard, canvas, cork, ceramics, terracotta, stone, concrete, glass, metal and plastic. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for candles. KREUL Art Potch does not contain any flame retardant. If you use it on candles, and light the candles, the result would be very unsightly. For paper napkin decoupage on candles, we recommend that you use KREUL Candle Potch.

Why should you use a soft brush to apply KREUL Art Potch?

For paper napkin decoupage, you only need the top-most layer of tissue. This is very thin and delicate. Bristle brushes often have very hard bristles. If you use a bristle brush to apply KREUL Art Potch to the napkin layer, it might tear. And the brush strokes remain visible.

How do you apply the paper napkin motif wrinkle-free onto a surface?

For even and smooth surfaces like wooden panels, there's a trick. Brush on a good layer of KREUL Art Potch and lay the topmost printed napkin layer on top of the glue. Then place baking parchment on top and iron over it with an iron on cotton setting. The heat reactivates the glue. Allow your motif to cool and then paint over with KREUL Art Potch Glue & Varnish. And there you go, the wrinkle-free paper napkin motif is all finished.
