Fact 1: Always stir glass and porcelain paints really well
Just unscrew the lid and start painting? Not quite, first, use a wooden spatula or a paintbrush to give the paint a good stir. That's important for optimum curing and coverage later. That is because storing the paint for a longer time can lead to the pigments settling at the bottom of the jar. By stirring the paint, you redistribute the pigments over the entire paint in the jar and also remix the other paint constituents.
Fact 2: Don’t wash your tableware in a dishwasher before you paint it
No matter whether you want to paint a plate, glass or cup, your tableware must be clean and grease-free before you start painting on it. But we recommend washing it by hand and not in a dishwasher. Why? Rinsing agent and dishwasher tabs can cause a lotus effect on the surface. As a result, the applied paint may not optimally stick to it. It is better to wash your tableware by hand with ordinary washing-up liquid without any additives. Even better is vinegar or a vinegar-based detergent. Then dry the tableware and you can start applying the KREUL Glass & Porcelain paints.

Fact 3: When painting glass, you don’t always have to draw freehand
You want to paint a complicated motif on a glass? But you don’t paint that well freehand. No problem, there is a trick to avoid wobbly, uneven lines: Just use a design template. Print a motif from the internet or draw it yourself onto some paper. The fix the motif on your paper in place inside the glass with some masking tape. As the glass is transparent, you can see the motif through it and then trace the lines with paint. For application of the KREUL Glass & Porcelain paint, we recommend that you use a flexible hair paintbrush.

Fact 4: To fix the paints, place your painted tableware in a cold kitchen oven
After a drying time of 4 hours, KREUL Glass & Porcelain paints are fixed at 160 °C in a non-preheated oven for 90 minutes. This means that you place your painted tableware in a cold kitchen oven. Then switch the oven to 160 °C with a top and bottom heat setting, please don’t use a fan setting. After 90 minutes, switch off the oven and let your tableware items cool inside the oven. Only take them out when the oven has cooled down. If you have applied paint in thick layers, we recommend fixing the paint twice in the oven.
Fact 5: KREUL Glass & Porcelain have not been tested as food-safe
There are not yet any standardized tests available for verifying whether porcelain paint is food-safe. The fact is that hot, oily and acidic foodstuffs can soften the paint again. The painted motif can become flexible and peel off. KREUL Glass & Porcelain paints are not toxic. But it would be a pity if the paint were to come off your tableware.
We therefore recommend that you don’t paint on areas that you would eat or drink from. So, for instance, better not to paint the bottom of a bowl from which you spoon out soup, It is better to decorate just the rim of plates with paint or the outer surfaces of cups, glasses and bowls. And this also guards against the paint being accidentally scraped off by cutlery.

Fact 6: Don’t use painted tiles as coffee cup coasters or pan stands
A hot pan or pot would soften the hardened paint again. The paint will become more flexible and sticky, and your lines and shapes may run. A hot pan or pot would then leave a mark in the painting, and that doesn’t look very pretty. Better not to use painted coasters for a hot coffee cup either. But you can use painted tiles as coasters for glasses and cups containing cold drinks or as decorative items.
