Deceptively real – and stylish: concrete look with the SOLO GOYA Acrylic Paints

11/16/2018 |

Concrete fascinates. In architecture. In design. In art. Is it the atmosphere of the asphalt jungle? Its rough surface? Or the stylish, multi-faceted and elegant look? With the various texture pastes of the SOLO GOYA Acrylic mediums, this modern look can be realised in a fascinating and versatile way in combination with the artist acrylic paint SOLO GOYA Acrylic.

A wide variety of surfaces is created. Once rather smoothly applied or with extremely rough surface. Applied in thick layers or very thinly. The typical concrete grey can be seen in a wide variety of nuances. Noble and elegantly reserved, warm and rather earth-coloured or cold, gloomy and mysterious.

As with real concrete as a wall design, the concrete look is most impressive when it is designed with different texture pastes in different shades of grey and in several layers rich to glaze.

There is no one right shade

The concrete look thrives on different shades of grey and earth tones. Therefore, we do not always mix exactly the same amount of black, gold ochre and umber into the white texture paste.

Slightly rough concrete surfaces

To do this, we first spread the coloured structure paste Ultra-Light over the entire stretched frame. Once it's dry, we scrape on the structure paste Ultra-Light again with the palette knife and brush it slightly diluted with water over the entire surface.

Rough concrete surfaces

First, we apply the coloured structure paste Fine Sand over the entire stretched frame. After it has dried, we can fill the fine-grained structure in places with the coloured structure paste Ultra-Light and apply it thinned with the bristle brush.

Very rough concrete surfaces

First, we spread the coloured structure paste Coarse Sand over the entire stretched frame. After this has dried, we fill the coarse structure somewhat with the structure paste Ultra-light. Important: not the entire surface!

Special effects for antique look surfaces

For the antique look, the white or even coloured paste for antique effect is made to crack with a hair dryer on the highest setting. Once there are no more cracks, we let them dry through. For a more pronounced effect, we let darker colour flow into the cracks.
