Five questions about the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker

01/18/2024 |

Originally developed for graffiti art, but now a must-have for acrylic painting. The KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker is a favourite tool for many artists. The acrylic marker is ideal for expressive drawings, exciting textures, final flourishes, signatures or mixed media art. Shake, pump and start drawng - quite simple really. But questions come up even for our classic products. Here, we are happy to answer the five questions we are most frequently asked about the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker.

Can you use the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker to paint objects outdoors?

Yes, that works. The marker contains acrylic ink that dries water-resistant and weather-proof. But the object you have painted should not permanently stand in water as this can impair the adhesion of the ink in the long term. The KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker is light-fast so that the painted areas should not fade. The acrylic marker is therefore ideal for painting stones. No varnish is needed. We recommend leaving the painted stones to dry in air for three days before you put them on permanent display outdoors. This will allow the acrylic ink to cure optimally.

Can you refill the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker with acrylic paint?

No, unfortunately not. The KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker is colour coordinated with the SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic paint. But the two products have different formulations. The marker contains acrylic ink whereas the 750-ml bottle is filled with acrylic paint.

Why do the colours of the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker differ in their opacity?

The KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker is a marker originally designed for the artists' supplies segement. Here, different opacities are regarded as desirable. After all, the transparent colours let the white of the surface shine through, whereas highly opaque colours can appear duller. With this trick, though, you can make the transparent colours of the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker look more opaque. First, use the white marker to give the area you want to colour a first coat. Allow the white colour to dry and then go over it with the coloured marker. For greater opacity, the KREUL Acrylic Matt Marker is a good alternative.

On which surfaces can you use the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker?

The acrylic marker is often used on canvas, drawing card or artists‘ paper. But it's an allrounder and can do much more. You can also use the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker on wood, stone, plastic, metal, glass, concrete and slate. You can even use it to write on decorative fabric ribbons. A real all-rounder!

What do you do when the tip of the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker gets clogged up?

We recommend that you always "write out" the acrylic marker, so that no remaining ink collects in the tip. Then store the marker horizontally. You can clean slightly encrusted tips. Just take the tip out of the marker and clean it under warm running water. If the tip is severely clogged up, first soften it up in a glass of warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid. That isn’t working? No matter. Replacement tips for the KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker are available from retailers.
