Guido and Johannes Häfner: comic art in the canteen

10/30/2019 |

A 2.5 litre bucket with the SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic Paint tempts you to create great works of art. The artists Guido and Johannes Häfner made this their principle and decorated the catering area of the DATEV Nürnberg with an oversize wall painting. On 7.80 x 2.80 metre, Popey, Donald Duck and Lucky Luke turn the canteen into a modern art gallery. It's great what the two artists can conjure up from a bucket of the Triton Acrylic paint!

The employees of the DATEV Nürnberg won't mind queueing up at the food counter in the future anymore, after all there is a lot to admire. What inspired the Häfner brothers to design comic heroes like Superman and Popey as wall paintings? 'The image of the sales room playfully shows the various characters that each company has [...] And of course everyone can discover themselves in certain figures. Many of us are sometimes heroes as human beings or in the function of the service personnel, a developer or other employees', explains Johannes Häfner.

The artwork was painted in the XXL format with the SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic and the SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic Paint Marker. The artists limited themselves to muted backgrounds like light olive-green or grey shades. The comic figures in black and white catch the eye immediately and maintain their graphic character. The artists created the fine graphic lines with the SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic Paint Marker. 'We used approximately 15 markers for the wall painting', says Johannes Häfner.

Johannes Häfner was born in Schlaifhausen/Upper Franconia in 1961. He attended Design in the Technical College and Communication Design in the University of Applied Sciences in Nürnberg.
