Can you thin KREUL Window Color that has gone thick?
Before our products leave our plant, we test every single batch. If everything is fine, the paints are given a 2-year warranty and are distributed to retailers. KREUL Window Color paint is water-based. The paint therefore reacts to frost and heat, e.g. during transport or when you store it at home. So it is best to store KREUL Window Color in a room with constant room temperature and protected against sunlight.
But if the consistency of the KREUL Window Color has changed, you can try to thin the paint a little. To do this, slowly stir in droplets of sterile water (maximum of 10 ml). As we don’t know how old and how thick the paints you are using are, we can’t guarantee success.
On what surfaces can you stick motifs painted with KREUL Window Color?
KREUL Window Color is a paint for decoration on window glass. But the peel-off motifs don’t just stick to windows. They look good on lots of other smooth surfaces. Mirrors, tiles, glass splash guards, drawers, lampshades, glasses for your toothbrushes and many more items.
Unlike the name suggests, though, you don’t paint KREUL Window Color direct onto window glass. You paint your motifs onto special flexible films. Plastic document pockets are also suitable. In the KREUL Window Color Sets, a flexible sheet of film is included. You peel the dried motif from the film and stick it to the window or another smooth surface.
Many KREUL Window Color Sets also contain a rigid sheet of film. When do you use the flexible Window Color film and when the rigid sheet of film? You use the flexible film whenever you want to peel off your dried Window Color motif like a sticker and apply it to another surface, e.g. for Window Color motifs on windows. The hard, rigid film is especially suitable for making a mobile. You can’t peel the Window Color motif off this sheet, it stays stuck to the film. For a mobile, you just cut out the motifs once they have dried.
Can you wash KREUL Window Color out of fabrics?
No, unfortunately you can’t wash the dried KREUL Window Color out of clothes. We recommend that children wear old clothes for painting that they can get dirty. Sometimes you can remove wet paint under warm running water, before it seeps into the cloth. A stain remover is available under the Dr. Beckmann brand that is suitable for washing out Window Color.
Do you have to paint an outline around Window Color motifs??
No, not really. You can paint motifs with KREUL Window Color without contour paint. Motifs without outlines still look great with the glow of the different colours. If you paint outlines first, let these dry for around two hours. Then fill in the motif with KREUL Window Color paints and let your motif dry for 24 hours.
What do you do if the KREUL Window Color motif leaves a mark on the glass after you have removed it?
KREUL Window Color motifs don’t normally leave any trace when you remove them from the window glass. But some motifs are left to decorate the glass for years. Occasionally, these may leave a "phantom image" on the glass. This doesn't just happen with KREUL Window Color motifs, all types of stickers, stencils or other products applied to glass can leave such marks.
We recommend carefully dabbing the area with a soft cloth or cotton wool wetted with vinegar and leaving it to take effect for one to two minutes. Alternatively, you can use a household dirt eraser sponge. Then clean the window as normal.
And there are a few tricks you can try to remove old Window Color motifs more easily from window glass.
Trick 1: Loosen the Window Color motif from the glass with a wet newspaper. Simply lay some wet newspaper on the motif for around 30 – 45 minutes. The water will help it stick. The Window Color motif becomes more elastic again, making it easier to peel off.
Trick 2: Use a hairdryer to gently warm the Window Color motif and peel it off carefully. The hairdryer setting should not be too hot. And in winter, it might still damage old glass panes. The window pane should not be too cold on the outside or the inside, and definitely not frozen.
Trick 3: Use a ceramic hob scraper to gently scrape off the Window Color motif. Start carefully from under the corners of the Window Color motif. But don’t use old ceramic hob scrapers as these might scratch the glass.
