MUCKI Finger Paint at the big DEG ice-painting extravaganza

05/20/2025 |

Can you decorate a white ice surface in lots of bright colours? We’ve tried it out – or to be more precise, around 250 creative kids have! We took part in the big ice painting event organized by DEG Eishockey e.V, an ice-hockey club, in Düsseldorf on 30 April 2025. And MUCKI Finger Paint was there, too. This was used to turn the ice at the Brehmstrasse ice rink into a giant artwork. There where pucks usually glide over the ice, brightly coloured paint, paintbrushes and imagination were the order of the day.

Together with the little artists, including the youngest DEG junior teams as well as children with a disability from special-needs nurseries and schools, we brushed and splodged paint onto the ice! It was magical how the children were mesmerized by the colourful paints. Age, ability as well as physical and mental conditions didn’t matter, the only thing that mattered was playing with the paint colours. Here, just a few impressions of this painting project on this unusual canvas.

Onto the ice: with paintbrushes and paint rollers

So that the MUCKI Finger Paint stuck to the ice better, the organizers had thinned the paint with water and poured it into big buckets. That is because MUCKI finger paint is actually paste-like in consistency so that little fingers can easily scoop it out of the jar. But it was a little too cold for the kids to paint onto the ice with their hands and fingers. And the painting worked just as well with a paintbrush, so that the little fingers stayedcosy and warm.

Strong together – with paint and team spirit

The thing that made this event so special was the feeling of togetherness: sport, art and inclusion hand in hand. The event was supported by the city of Düsseldorf’s Office for Sport, the Düsseldorf Disability Council and other partners like KREUL. The revenue from the event will go where it is needed – to support the ice hockey club's youth work and schools for children with physical and mental impairment.

A day to remember

Whether on the ice or in the spectator stands – for everyone taking part, the DEG ice painting event was a colourful experience. Even if it did feel a bit strange donning winter clothes again in the warm spring temperatures. Bright and excited children’s eyes, colourful paintbrushes and a huge ice rink in a rainbow of colours made the day an unforgettable experience.
