Which fabrics can be painted with KREUL Textile Marker Opak – and which cannot?
The opaque fabric pen is suitable for light and dark fabrics made from the following materials: cotton, batiste, linen, silk and blended fabrics with a maximum of 20% synthetic fibre content. The KREUL Textile Marker Opak is perfect for painting jeans and trainers. It can also be used on imitation leather, belts, canvas, fabric storage boxes and lampshades. You can paint bed linen, tea towels and tablecloths if you wash them at 40°C afterwards. Not suitable for polyester fabrics, functional clothing (e.g. jerseys) or coated materials for outdoor use.
How does the colour of KREUL Textile Marker Opak remain vibrant for a long time after washing?
After 6 hours of drying time, fix the painted fabric – either for 5 minutes with an iron (cotton setting, baking paper in between) or for 8 minutes in the oven at 150 °C. Then wash on the left side on a delicate cycle at up to 40 °C. We recommend using colour detergent. Tumble drying is fine on a gentle cycle.
How do I clean the tip of the KREUL Textile Marker Opak and how does refilling work?
Is the tip of your fabric marker clogged? No problem. It can be easily removed and cleaned under warm running water. Heavily clogged or frayed tips can be easily replaced with KREUL replacement tips. To do this, insert the replacement tip and press lightly. For thicker lines, it is possible to replace the medium tip with the edge tip.
The black and white colours can also be refilled four times with KREUL Refill Textile Marker Opak. This means the marker stays ready for use longer and is sustainable. Here's how: Shake the refill pen well with the cap closed before use. Wear rubber gloves for protection. Hold the KREUL Textile Marker Opak with the tip facing upwards and unscrew the marker between the mouthpiece and the body. Loosen the valve and remove it. Transfer the contents of the refill to the 1st mark. One mark on the pen corresponds to approximately one pen refill. The marker is ready for use immediately after filling.
Can I paint over colours or correct mistakes?
Once the colour of the KREUL Textile Marker Opak has dried, it can no longer be corrected. In this case, it is advisable to paint over the motif, as the colours provide very good coverage. For optimum coverage, it is necessary to shake the pen vigorously before writing. This ensures that the opaque pigments are well distributed in the ink.
Do you have to fix the paint with KREUL Textile Marker Opak?
No, that is not necessary. Only if you want to wash the painted fabric at 40 °C is it advisable to fix the colour with an iron or in the oven. The colour of KREUL Textile Marker Opak dries waterproof. This means that once it has dried, it is waterproof. Fixing it only increases its wash resistance. This would not be necessary for storage boxes or lampshades made of fabric, for example.
