Then you’ll probably find the answers in this post. Here, we answer the five questions we are most frequently asked about KREUL Candle Potch.

What’s the right way to apply KREUL Candle Potch so that the paper napkin doesn’t tear or wrinkle on the candle?

As the saying goes, less is more: you can prevent your napkin motif from tearing by applying the special glue in a thin and even layer with a soft synthetic paintbrush. Then peel away the topmost printed layer from the napkin and lay this on the glue surface. To prevent wrinkling, carefully smooth the motif with your fingers. Then wait for about 3 min, so the motif can dry a little onto the surface. Apply another layer of KREUL Candle Potch on top. The product is glue and varnish in one. Your decorated candle is dry after around 24 hours.

How long does the glue have to dry before you can use the candle?

The glue dries fast and keeps the napkin motif firmly in place after just a few minutes. The second coat with KREUL Candle Potch is used as a varnish and protects the motif. This coat of glue should dry for 24 hours. Only then do we advise lighting the candle. Lighting it earlier would not damage the napkin motif, but he candle wouldn't burn properly if the topcoat is too wet.

Can you light a candle decorated with paper napkin decoupage?

It’s safe to burn a candle decorated with KREUL Candle Potch. The special glue contains a flame retardant. If the flame reaches the paper napkin, it won’t burn. We haven’t tested KREUL Candle Potch for smoke or soot. After all, this is more to do with the make-up of the candle rather than with the decoupage glue.

Is KREUL Candle Potch suitable to transfer photos onto candles?

The glue was specially developed for sticking paper napkin motifs onto candles. KREUL Candle Potch isn’t suitable for transferring photos as it is too liquid in consistency. To transfer photos onto candles, you print the photo motif onto paper with a laser printer. KREUL Candle Potch would soak through the paper and make it impossible to apply it wrinkle-free. If you still want to transfer photos onto candles, use KREUL Foto Transfer Potch in combination with KREUL Foto Transfer Potch varnish for candles, this is a protective varnish on wax basis.
