Do you have to warm up the wax in the KREUL Candle Pen?

No, the best thing about the KREUL Candle Pen is that you can get decorating straightaway. The paint contains liquid wax and can be easily squeezed out of the pen. This way, you can draw dots, little hearts or lines. A popular decorating idea is applying the paint with a small sponge. With this method, you get a soft, even coating that looks like the popular dip-dye look. But without the need to dip the candle in hot wax. You can get colour transitions by gently dabbing the paint on the candle. Large-area motifs are also easy to do with the KREUL Candle Pen. For this, squeeze the candle paint onto a plate and use a paintbrush to paint on the candle.

How do you clean your paintbrush after painting with the KREUL Candle Pen?

As the candle paint in the KREUL Candle Pen contains liquid wax, there are a couple of small things to keep in mind when you clean your paintbrush. First, wipe off the paintbrush against a cloth or some kitchen roll, that way you can remove a lot of leftover paint. Then clean the paintbrush under warm water. Use soap to lather the brush. Then shape the brush hairs and lie the paintbrush flat to dry.

Is the KREUL Candle Pen vegan?

No, it’s not vegan. The liquid-wax-based paint contains beeswax. We like that this natural ingredient is used to enhance the candle paint. But it does mean that the paint is no longer vegan.

Can you use the KREUL Candle Pen to predraw motifs on film?

Yes, it's possible to predraw motifs for decorating candles. But we prefer to use baking paper rather than film as  it's easier to peel the candle motifs off the baking paper. Here’s how: use the KREUL Candle Pen to design your motif on baking paper and let it dry. Peel it off the paper and warm the motif in your hand. Place the motif on the candle and press it down. Another tip: Avoid filigree motifs as these can be tricky to handle.

How long does the wax in the KREUL Candle Pen take to dry?

That depends on how you have applied the paint. If you dab the paint on a candle with a sponge, it can be dry after just 15 minutes. If you paint directly on a candle with a pen, drying will take between three and eight hours, depending on the thickness of the paint. Dabs of paint dry faster than lines. As soon as the colour has turned more intense in colour, it has dried enough for you to touch it with your finger.
