Colour of the month: Curcuma
06/21/2022 |Natural pigment from the curcuma root
Anyone who has spiced up a dish with fresh turmeric, as curcuma is more commonly referred to in the kitchen, knows its natural strong colouring. Our curcuma colour contains this dye. The colour is made from the rootstock of the turmeric plant (curcuma longa extract). Doesn’t this natural alternative to synthetic pigments just glow beautifully? In contrast to other yellow hues, this colour tends more towards light ochre. For acrylics, we have created two varieties of curcuma. You can get curcuma as KREUL Triton Acrylic Ink and as a KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker. Curcuma works best as a colour wash on a white background. The brilliant acrylic ink dries to a silk-matt look.
Warm yellow hue as a sustainable alternative
The inspiration for our Natural Pigments series was the idea of offering an alternative to colours containing synthetically manufactured pigments. Thanks to its natural pigment, our curcuma colour glows in splendid yellow. The ink and the marker have been coordinated with each other, so that you can simply refill the Curcuma KREUL Triton Acrylic Marker Natural Pigments with curcuma acrylic ink. This lengthens the marker’s lifetime and reduces plastic waste.
Fantastic combination with a neutral colour
Yellow instantly makes you think of warm sunshine and can be combined with many other colours to create a summery work of art. Pairing it with a neutral shade makes for a fascinating play of colour, the bright yellow spreading a carefree joyousness. We love colour combos like these and offer Curcuma and Graphite as a set of two. The acrylic markers are suitable for canvas, paper, cardboard, wood, stone, plastic, metal, and glass. Equally, the combination with other colours such as black, neutral grey or dark blue, also makes curcuma a summer eyecatcher!
