Glass and porcelain in ethno style

08/10/2018 |

Africa, Mexico, Bali, Thailand - the appeal of exotic countries lies not only in their natural beauty and chilled-out relaxation. Above all, the flair of foreign cultures is appealing because their way of dealing with colours and symbols is so different from ours. So that there is not too much wanderlust, we will simply bring the spirit home. With colourful patterns in ethno style. With a charming interplay of colour and light. And what could be easier than with glass and porcelain?

Thanks to the transparent glass and porcelain paints, the KREUL Glass & Porcelain Clear, the ethno look can be perfectly imitated. Whether diamonds, circles, lines or tiles - the translucent shades let sunbeams shine through drinking glasses and glass carafes.

Delicate vessels meet rustic tiles and ceramic coasters in fiery orange and southern turquoise. A touch of adventure, Moroccan bazaar and old handcraft patterns moves into the living room at home.

Good tips to make it extra beautiful

  • The object must be heat-resistant, smooth, clean and free of grease. Before painting, clean by hand with washing-up liquid – not in the dishwasher so that no 'beading effect' is applied.
  • Do not paint the utilized and eating areas, e.g., drinking rims or inner surfaces of cups and glasses as well as areas on plates that come into contact with food.
  • Motif templates can be transferred in advance, for example, with the KREUL Graphite Copying Paper (Art.-Nr. 23048). Alternatively, draw motifs by hand on the object with the KREUL Drawing pencil (Art.-Nr. 8008). Do not paint over the pencil lines. These can be wiped off after baking in.
  • To apply the paint, we recommend a soft brush, e. g., the KREUL Red Marten imit. (Art.-Nr. 7202..) or Pony hair Synthetics (Art.-Nr. 7229..).
  • Do not dilute colours with water, but with the KREUL Glass & Porcelain Colour Thinner (Art.-Nr. 16273). Then the adhesive power is maintained after baking in.
  • As long as the painting is not baked in, it can be removed from smooth surfaces with water.
  • Place the painted object in a cold oven. When the temperature of 160 °C is reached, the painting will burn in for 90 minutes. Leave to cool and harden in the oven.
  • After baking, the painting is waterproof, dishwasher-safe and saliva-proof.
  • If the colours are used in combination with the KREUL Porcelain+GlassPen Glitter and Glass ColorPen, the colour application will burn in at 160 °C for 30 minutes. The painting is then only conditionally dishwasher safe.
  • Simply clean brushes and tools with water.
