From popular classic to a fresh start

A look back – and forward: When we hold KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid in our hands today, it contains not only paint, but also a piece of company history. Until recently, this artist acrylic paint was called SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic – a familiar companion in studios, academies, stage design and workshops. Colourful, reliable, expressive.

So why the change? The answer lies in the combination of tradition and innovation. We take a brief look back at how SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic became the new artist acrylic paint KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid.

The idea of a new colour scheme

SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic has been a classic for decades – popular with artists who need a lot of paint for large formats. The distinctive blue-green label ensured recognition in stores, but we felt it was time for more simplicity and clarity.

But we didn't want to stop there. Our product management team asked themselves: what colours do artists really need today? The result: a revised colour chart with 61 shades, including both modern, expressive colours such as vibrant lavender and vermilion green, as well as practical, single-pigment colours for brilliant mixtures. Plus a titanium white that scores with its strong opacity.

Change needs space. The management supported the process of questioning the status quo and having the courage to transform the tried and tested into something new. This gave rise to the vision of a paint that retains its quality but opens up even more possibilities in terms of design and colour variety.

From the new concept to the first colour samples

The product management team's wishes had to be checked for feasibility. In KREUL's in-house laboratory, our experts tested how pigments available on the market could be used to develop colours that meet our quality requirements. The result: the tried-and-tested formula remains unchanged – and is being implemented in a colour palette that is more contemporary and versatile than ever before.

Production: Colour on a grand scale

Once the tests had been successfully completed, production began. Each batch of a colour shade is produced in quantities of 1,000 kg at a time – and there are 61 colour shades. With a great deal of patience, care and a trained eye for quality, the ingredients are mixed and the colour mixture is stirred. The laboratory then checks the finished sample before the colour is approved.

Filling: Into the new container

Now comes the final step: bottling in our familiar 750 ml bottles – but in a redesigned container. In addition to the new design, sustainability was also a key focus: the empty bottle is recyclable. What's more, it is now made from 40% recycled material, with the cap made from as much as 96%.

For artists who feel the flow of paint

KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid is a product that combines the tried and tested with the new. But ultimately, it's not about us – it's about the artists. Since its first presentation at Creativeworld 2025, curiosity has been high and enthusiasm palpable. Many artists are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new bottles in their studios.

Now KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid is ready to make large surfaces and fine details shine. We are excited to see what ideas will be realised with the new range of colours. Feel free to share your colourful moments on Instagram and tag @kreulpaint.
