Preview: Triton but different!

03/18/2025 |

Visitors to Creativeworld 2025 have already been treated to a first glimpse of our new artists’ acrylic paint KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid. Is it still the good old “Triton” that artists and academies have trusted for decades – just with a new name and get-up? No, there's much more to it than that. Here, we reveal the future of our classic product and pin photos of the new artists’ acrylic paint. The new colours will be produced from May, so that they will hit the shops over the course of the summer. By the beginning of 2026, SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic will be history and the full range of KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid will be available. Here's just a taster of what's to come.

Artists’ acrylic paint: liquid paint in trusted KREUL quality

Triton will stay Triton! As ever – but in a new version that can better meet artists' needs. The revamp of our classic paint is not designed to take anything away from the tried and tested performance of this product, but rather the time has come to add something more. Anyone who has already long trusted the quality of Triton can count on getting the same quality. We haven’t changed the formulation for Triton paints. KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid uses the same constituents as SOLO GOYA Triton Acrylic. The new artists’ acrylic paint is produced at the KREUL plant in Hallerndorf. It will still come with the same deep-matt appearance and liquid consistency. That is liquid and brand quality of KREUL. And we think that deserves a new name: KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid!

Wider colour selection, greater possibilities

Never change a system that is already up and running. Unless the change brings more possibilities. We have added 14 new colours to the Triton colour palette and modified some of the other colours, so we shall offer KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid in 61 colours. The future selection of colours will include classical colour circle shades like Phthalo Blue along with Cobalt Turquoise, a mixed shade for intensive green colours, and Lavender, a trend-conscious paint colour. Our Franconian home region has also been an inspiration in the development of three new colours: Fränkisch Sandstone, Fränkisch Red and Fränkisch Hop Gold. So artists will have a much wider range of options available.

Paint bottles with recyclate content

Contemporary also means taking responsibility for the future. Triton is a long-life, very rich high-yield paint. But we want to make the paint even more sustainable. The artists’ acrylic paint in student quality will be filled into 750-ml bottles as before. But in a more sustainable version: the plastic used for the bottles containing KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid will be made of up to 40 % recyclate, the lid containing even 96 %.

Enthusiastic response to the first presentation

“Incredibly beautiful colours” and “That exceeds our expectations”. These and similar comments came as the reactions to KREUL Triton Acrylic Liquid. We premièred our new classic paint at the Creativeworld Fair from 7 to 10 February 2025 in Frankfurt am Main. There, international retailers, partner companies and creatives were able to check out all 61 paint bottles and the colour chart. We are delighted about the thoroughly positive feedback and are looking forward to the first filling of the new paint colours. And, of course, we shall be reporting on that. To be continued!
