description: As of now, we have around 10 000 busy, buzzing helpers living directly next to the entrance to our company premises, where the company Bee Future has set up a bee house. Around 10 000 busy bees are now going about their important work. In our meadows and a radius of around three kilometres, they collect pollen. We are already looking forward to the first KREUL honey – a very special symbol of our commitment to nature and the environment. After all, sustainability is close to our heart. With this initiative, we would like to make a small, but impactful contribution. Bees are not only fascinating creatures, but play a key role in the pollination of plants – and therefore in preserving biodiversity. Special thanks go to our business partner Müller, who came up with this lovely idea and got the ball rolling.

As of now, we have around 10 000 busy, buzzing helpers living directly next to the entrance to our company premises, where the company Bee Future has set up a bee house.

 ### Working together for the protection of bees

We were very enthusiastic about this cooperative project. After all, bees are crucial to our ecosystem as by pollinating plants, they ensure the nutritional basis for many living things. Unfortunately, the worldwide bee population has declined drastically over the last few decades. Our commercial partner doesn’t want to simply accept that and together with selected companies initiated a sustainable bee project. You can find information about this [here](https://www.mueller.de/unternehmen/nachhaltigkeit/ein-herz-fuer-bienen/#erreicht).

KREUL is happy to be part of this initiative. Our facility is surrounding by green meadows – ideal conditions to offer a colony of bees a new home and make an active contribution to preserving biodiversity.

 ### A home for bees – right next to KREUL

The wooden bee house was set up by [Beefuture](https://beefuture.online/) on the KREUL meadow. Beefuture is engaged in nature and environmental protection with the help of different companies. These invest in the cultivation of bee colonies by making space for beehives on their company grounds. This way, they do their bit to increase the bee population. Beefuture also looks after our bee hive. Every two weeks a beekeeper comes to tend to our bees, make any repairs needed to the bee house, harvest honey and fill this into jars. The honey is the product of the bees‘ constantly busy activity. “To fill one jar of honey, the bee has to visit around five million flowers,” says Beefuture.

 ### A small house with an ever growing population.

Before the bees could get buzzing and working on the KREUL meadow, they had quite a journey behind them; three hours from Wallenhausen in Swabia all the way to Hallerndorf in Franconia. Our bee colony is a docile young colony with a queen, who is marked in blue. It won’t produce any honey this summer as the bees first have to become acclimatized in their new home. The colony currenlty comprises 10 000 bees. Over the summer, the population will grow substantially and increase to around 50 000 bees. The next generation can already be found nestled in the filled honeycombs. The bees will hatch out after 21 days. At the end of August, the winter colony will hatch that will get the bee colony through the winter. We wish our new buzzy neighbours a good start in their new home on the KREUL meadow.
