Who says silk paint is only for scarves and fabrics? KREUL's highly pigmented silk paints can do so much more! They are brilliant, intense, lightfast and even waterproof once dry – an advantage over classic watercolours. Perfect for creating fresh, summery watercolour-style lettering in no time at all.
We chose the colour turquoise. The bright blue immediately brings to mind swimming pools, the sea and the sky – perfect for getting you in the summer mood. Join in: all you need is KREUL Javana Silk Paint, a flat brush, a round brush, watercolour paper and tap water.
### Step 1: Getting to know the paint
When you open the jar, you immediately notice that the silk paint is extremely fluid – almost like water, but with much more intense pigmentation. This is precisely what makes it so exciting, because it creates a beautiful watercolour effect on paper.
### Step 2: The watercolour-style background
We apply the paint to damp watercolour paper using a flat brush. The paint immediately begins to flow, blur and develop its own character – much like classic watercolour paint, only more intense.
### Step 3: Add small effects
Now it gets exciting: we add some specific accents with a few brush strokes. We also sprinkle coarse salt onto the still-wet surface. This absorbs the paint in certain places and leaves behind interesting textures once it dries.
### Step 4: Apply lettering
Once the background is completely dry, it's time for the finishing touches: using a soft round brush, we paint the lettering directly onto the surface. The brilliant pigments make the turquoise shine particularly intensely – the lettering looks almost as if it were printed.
