Gift wrapping paper or cuttings from magazines – creatives find stylish motifs and designs everywhere. It is such a pity to just throw these in the waste paper bin, especially as they can be used to inspire new artwork. What about a collage made of snippets of paper as a mood board for your desk? With KREUL Decoupage Potch Glue & Varnish, you can stick these in no time at all. We show you how easy it is here.
### Glue and varnish in one: KREUL Decoupage Potch Glue & Varnish
For a collage, you only need some scraps of pretty waste paper and a glue that you can work with easily. The perfect job for KREUL Decoupage Potch Glue & Varnish. The silk-matt special glue for decoupage is glue and varnish in one. Thin paper like rice paper can be fixed to decorative objects and then varnished over. Just like paper napkin decoupage.
KREUL Decoupage Potch Glue & Varnish is suitable for numerous surfaces, e.g. for sticking paper to wooden figures or stones. The water-based glue also works well on canvas or card. It dries transparent, with a silk-matt shimmer. Ideal for creating collage artwork.
### Sticking the collage: here’s how
For our paper design art, we first prime a paint board with black artists’ acrylic paint from the SOLO GOYA Acrylic line. Other suitable surfaces are stretched canvas or cardboard. The term "decoupage" comes from the French "découper", which translates as “to cut out”. So we cut organic shapes out of gift wrapping and colourfully printed craft paper. While magazine clippings are too stiff for classical decoupage, they are suitable for making a collage, e.g. for lettering in a design.
KREUL Decoupage Potch Glue & Varnish is applied with a paintbrush onto the back of the paper. You can also simply slide the clippings through a blob of glue. Then we press them down firmly onto the painting board and smooth them out. After they have dried, we use the glue as a coating varnish and brush it over the collage. All finished! If you want, you can use artists‘ acrylic paint like, for example, SOLO GOYA Acrylic to add decorative elements or paint over some of the design. But even without any added ornament, the stuck-on paper designs look very inspiring – et voilà a stylish mood board!
