Stylishly painted wooden boxes are a wonderful alternative to gift-wrapping paper. We like to use KREUL Wood Stain to decorate these boxes. This colours the wooden surface, while leaving the beautiful grain of the wood visible. The stain is very liquid in consistency so you can easily apply it with a paintbrush. Still not sure? Here, we answer the five questions we are most frequently asked about KREUL Wood Stain.

### Is KREUL Wood Stain only suitable for wood?

No, it's suitable for all fibre-based surfaces. You can also use it to colour raffia, baskets or straw hats. Its special feature is that it is not opaque. The underlying surface remains visible. That looks wonderful for the colourful design of wooden furniture or boxes. KREUL Wood Stain is an acrylic paint with a very liquid consistency. That is why it is also suitable for artwork on canvas. You can get fantastic watercolour effects if you pour KREUL Wood Stain onto wet canvas. The best thing about it: unlike watercolours, once dried, the stain colours are water resistant.

### How do you get an even colour application with KREUL Wood Stain?

The flowing fluid KREUL Wood Stain penetrates deep into the wood. It makes the wood glow in brilliant colours, but without covering the typical wood grain. So that the colour can flow even on very dry wood, wet the wood before applying a first coat of colour stain. With further coats, you can get a more intense colour brilliance. More detailed painting is possible with the liquid paint, but for this, let the underlying coat dry properly.

### Why is KREUL Wood Stain suitable for children’s toys?

You can use KREUL Wood Stain to colourfully decorate children’s toys made of wood. Once dried, the stain is saliva-resistant so it isn’t harmful if the children put the toys in their mouth. Moreover, once dried, KREUL Wood Stain complies with toy standard EN 71-3 for absorbent materials.

### How do you get a more intense colour application with KREUL Wood Stain?

Light colours like white can look very faint if you paint just one coat. You can prevent that by shaking and stirring the KREUL Wood Stain before you use it. This preparation is generally recommended for all the colours. Pigments that settle to the bottom are more evenly distributed as a result. Then apply the KREUL Wood Stain in layers. With every layer, the colour glows more intensely . But it remains a transparent wash. For an opaque coat of colour, we recommend KREUL Acrylic Matt Paint.

### Is KREUL Wood Stain weather-resistant?

Yes, it is . It is suitable for painting garden ornaments made of wood. On wooden trays, sometimes mould stains can appear. We recommend therefore that you varnish colourfully stained wooden trays with KREUL synthetic-resin-based protective varnish.
